It is the curvature of a mirror that makes you look taller or shorter. Look this up on a science web site for a real detailed explanation. The reflection (depending on the curve) tricks the eye.

A fun house mirror is curved, either concavely, convexly, or a combination of both. This causes light to hit it at an angle, rather than straight-on, and the image that bounces back to you appears distorted, either stretched out or compressed.

A fun house mirror uses glass that is curved differently than a normal mirror. These concave and convex perspectives create distorted images when looking in it. Only in a perfectly flat mirror is your body accurately reflected.

A fun house mirror's surface is not flat like a normal mirror. Instead, it's curved like a lens, so it refracts the image as well as reflecting it. Fun house mirrors might be slightly concave or convex over the entire surface, or rippled to cause a really weird effect.

Some of the mirrors are made of very thin high grade plastic called Plexiglas or Mylar and they are bent on either side which gives you the distorted image.
