What can you tell me about normal house settling noises?

A house that is settling will make a lot of different noises and they range from sounding almost like a scream to hearing things like bangs that sound almost like guns going off alot of creaks and bangs are the most common noises of a house that is settling and there is nothing to worry about.

Houses can make noises that are caused by stress in the structure. The stress can be caused by wind blowing against the house which creates noises when the building shifts slightly. Most of the house settling noises are normal and are not cause for concern. If the noises are louder and constant, it may warn that you need repairs.
