What kinds of houseplants could cause a bug infestation in my home?

Houseplants don't cause bugs but the potting soil can attract them. Gnats in particular like to feed off the fungi growing in the soil as well as the water trays. I prevent this by lightly spraying the soil and water trays weekly with Lysol. "Lightly" is the operative word, as heavy spraying may damage your plants.

Any kind of houseplant can cause a bug infestation in your home, as the bugs that likely are bothering you live in the soil. Water with cayenne tea.

Any kind of houseplant could cause bugs to come into your home, but I would suggest spraying them with a safe soap like murphy's oil soap, which will safely repel the bugs and won't emit toxic chemicals into your home. Also, put a layer of sand on top of the soil so eggs won't hatch.

any plant can get an infestation try using dawn dish soap mixed with water in a spray bottle soak the leaves this will kill most bugs if not hort oil

Well no house plants should bring in bugs to your home. Maybe you are keeping your door open too long and that is why bugs are coming in.

Most plants will cause bug problems. If you brought in a plant that wasn't there before it may have tracked in insects. It is not so much what KIND of house plant but where the plants were before. It is not uncommon for an outdoor plant being brought in to cause such a problem.

Houseplants that have been outside and moved inside are usual suspects. I you are "hardening" plants in the spring, bugs may hitch a ride when you bring the plants inside.
