The standard 'June Bug Beetle' has cousins with stripes down their back. The Tenlined beetle is brown with ten white lines stretching from head to bottom. However, at a very young age this form of june bug will only have one white line visible. The tenlined beetle is considered one of the more beautiful, and makes much less noise.

This beetle is the shape of a June Bug but slightly larger, has a shiny Copper Brass metalic color that is iridescent and with a reddish sunburst color at times. These colors are on the Thorax and abdoman. The legs have a golden color.

What you may be finding are "ten striped Beetles" or a very common "Potato Beetle". These bugs have the same basic shape of a june bug but are dark brown.
