Question by  cheldi (95)

What kind of infection is caused by antibiotics destroying good bacteria?

I've heard that those receiving immunizations are at risk for infections due to this problem. What type of infection is it?

Some antibiotics can destroy the natural flora that is helpful in the body. While not all patients experience the same response, some antibiotics can open the door for opportunistic yeast infections (vaginitis) and/or loose bowel movements. Make note and advise your physician of sensitivity to a particular antibiotic.

Yeast or candida infections are the most commonly caused infections resulting from antibiotic use. Taking a probiotic supplement, eating yogurt, are all good ways to prevent this.
