The Wii uses WiFi to connect to the Internet, using a modem or a router. This means you don't have to use any kind of cable. If however WiFi is not available where you are, you can buy a LAN Adaptor for the Wii, and a standard Ethernet cable to plug your Wii to your router or modem.

Unless you have a wireless network then you need to purchase a special usb LAN adapter and use a standard ethernet cable to connect to your modem or router. The adapter can be purchase from multiple places as well as the ethernet cable.
