What kind of careers are there for someone interested in weather?

First the usual government or private weather forecaster. another, chasing a tornado. lets not forget television and radio weathermen. then those that maintain weather equipment. in the university those that make weather models. in each airline there is a weather department which follows jet streams. also, there a specialties for tsunamis.

People interested in weather most often become meteorologists. Other careers include geologist, professor, storm chaser, environmental scientist or a biologist who studies the effect of climate patterns on life.

The most obvious one would be taking on a career of a meteorologist. You could work for a TV news station and have on-air time. Also, you could try and find work with a bigger medium, like The Weather Channel. However, they do need behind-the-scenes meteorologists who gather information.

The most prominent career would be meteorology, either as a "weather jock" or behind the scenes. Another path could be climatology. Teaching and research are also viable paths.
