Very cold and wet, and sometimes/mostly windy, which adds to the chill factor. Bring jackets with down or are made of gore-tex.

Prepare for very cold as 35 degrees F below zero is not uncommon in the winter. Do prepare to dress in layers just in case they have warmer weather than they usually do.

The winters in Minnesota are extremely cold. I would highly recommend bringing with you a heavy warm coat, boots, gloves, etc. I am from Upper Michigan and the weather in Minnesota is very similar. You get the winds from off the lakes and it can get below zero many times. So, dress warm!

A typical winter in Minnesota is harsh and you can be knee deep in snow. So, take with you some warm clothing such as a Parka, snowboots, and gloves or mittens. A pair of thermal underwear for everyone would also be a good idea because the chilly air can go right through your clothes.
