The European nation of Greece is the southernmost country in the area defined as the Balkan peninsula. Other countries fully located within Balkan peninsula but not as southern are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Kosovo. Countries that are not fully located within the peninsula are Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Romania, and Turkey.

This could be a trick question! The southernmost nation state ENTIRELY on the Balkan peninsula is Greece. However, Turkey has a small portion of its nation on the peninsula and all of Turkey extends further south than Greece. The Turkish portion in Europe does not.

Greece is the southernmost state on the Balkans, it's islands reach far south the Aegean Sea, almost to the Mediterranian Sea.
