They make washing machines or stackable washer dryer combos that are pretty small. They are made for use in apartments.

I lived in an apartment with no washer or dryer hookups and wanted to be able to do my own laundry. I went to Lowes and found a washer/dryer that were stackable and the washer was small enough that you moved it to kitchen and hooked up to faucet.
