That small brown insect in your house is a cock roach. You need to get rid of them as soon as possible. Call orkin, they can come spray your house. Roaches carry a lot of diseases and germs and spread them throughout your house. The roaches multiply very rapidly all of the time.

If it's a really small brown insect (2 mm) with a distinct, narrow "waist" between its middle section (thorax) and its abdomen, it's what we commonly call a "sugar ant. " They often live along the foundations, and will forage both in the yard and the house for food.

Small brown insects could be gnats, if they are flying around. If they are crawling, they could be wood roaches.

Given the limited description of "small brown insect", I'm going to assume you mean the common stink bug. They commonly enter homes in the fall fleeing the cold weather.
