Backbay / south end area is having a good neighborhood. They hav a good qualities apartements, but little expensive. Its really the heart of Boston.

you think Hynes is sketchy, you're going to think Kenmore/Fenway is sketchy too. Neither actually is dangerous. It's a student area, mostly. It's not dangerous at all, but not super nice or clean, either. At times it will probably get quite loud, between students partying and obnoxious Red Sox fans.

one of the safest neighborhoods in boston is cambridge. is really nice and low in crime so i would say it one of the safest.
