please don't be afraid of diabetes in your dog. I had a diabetic dog for years and she was fine. They lose weight because of high blood sugar. once they are on the right amount of insulin they will maintain their weight. have the vet do a glucose curve test

Weight loss and canine diabetes are related in a way that your sugar levels can be regulated by your diet and exercise without having to get on medications. If your canine has diabetes, then losing weight may cause your dogs body to regulate itself and your dog will no longer have diabetes.

Well there is a positive relation between weight loss and diabetes. Diabetes can help your dog lose weight if you cut down the diet from sugar. Also, it can be harmful if not treated.

The relationship between the two is that you need to balance out the energy balance of the body correctly due to the diabetes. If you manage it incorrectly you may cause it to gain weight or lose weight.

Just as in humans, being overweight makes it more difficult for the body to use insulin properly. By helping your dog lose weight, you can optimize his metabolism.

Your dog is compelled to take restricted food during canine diabetes treatment which reduces its weight. Weight restriction is most important in dogs having diabetes. Normally dogs are permitted to eat meat etc. containing rich in fat. If intake of fat contained food is reduced, definitely weight wil be lost. Medicines given during the treatment also help to reduce weight.

When dogs have diabetes it isn't uncommon for weight loss to occur. Make sure you're feeding a food that has all the nutrients your dog needs.
