Often times in pregnant women the sciatic nerve becomes pinched, leading to that shooting pain down the leg. This resolves after the birth of the baby.

Sciatica is common in pregnancy. This is because the baby and all its accessories put a lot of weight and pressure on your nerves. This may cause tingling and numbness in your legs. It can also cause lower back pain and numbness in your feet. The best treatment is exercises and massages.

Once you baby has grown to almost full size, he or she begin to press on different parts inside your body. Once of them being your sciatica nerve in your hip area. Any compression on this nerve can cause a spasm in the area. How long it lasts can vary.

Sciatica can be triggered by pregnancy because the baby is pressing on the nerves in your back. That is part of why you are not supposed to lay on your back. I have had sciatica issues since my first pregnancy 4 years ago. It comes and goes.
