What is the proper way to ask someone to volunteer?

Approach the person and describe the volunteer opportunity you'd like them to help with. Tell them what job you will be doing to volunteer and ask if that sounds interesting to them. Explain the importance of each volunteer and the rewarding feeling the person will get if they volunteer.

Think through what you are asking. Are there benefits for the possible volunteer? Is it a task that no one wants to do? Do what you can to make the task attractive and beneficial and point these things out to the would-be volunteer.

You could approach them and say, "Hi, we were talking about this project and you were recommended as the best in this area. We'd like your help."
