This dog is the Australian Shepherd. Often times, people refer to them as Aussies to shorten the name. They are usually white, black, and brown. They are very loving and obedient dogs, but are very protective of their owners and their house. They have lots of energy and love running.

Usually, if it's black-&-white or multi-colored, it's an Australian Shepherd. And the stumpy tail is not a natural characteristic of the dog; rather, the tail has been docked (amputated). The other main type of cattle dog (around here anyway) is a red or blue heeler. They also have "stumpy" docked tails.

This dog is known as the Australian Cattle Dog, or sometimes as a Queensland Heeler. These are wonderful, smart, active dogs, but are not appropriate for everyone. They need lots of activity, such as chasing a ball, taking a long run, or herding a flock of sheep. If they are not given a job, they will invent one.

That is it's actual name, although it is sometimes referred to as a Smithfield Heeler. It is a descendant of the dingo and was crossed with the Smithfield. It also looks like the Australian Cattle except it is actually born with a stumpy tail unlike the Australian Cattle dog.

It is an Australian Shepherd. The tail should not be more than four inches long and, if it is, it is usually docked. Unlike other herding dogs, they do not bark a lot while working. As pets they are playful and devoted. They are very smart and good with children.

The long haired, stumpy tailed dog is called an Australian Shepard. This dog is bred for and used to herd cattle and sheep. Amazingly, the dog learns commands for left and right, forward and backwards. Its job is also to protect the livestock. In the U. S. , this pet is used mainly for a guard dog, to guard the family.
