Scours refers to diarrhea in cattle, and is the leading cause of death in young calves. It is caused by viruses that attack and destroy the cells that line the intestinal tract.

It is diarrhea in calves, caused by a bacteria or a virus, which can be passed on to other calves. So calves with scours should be separated from the others. This problem is the cow producers' largest problem in terms of losing money. It can cause death by dehydration, as a result of the diarrhea.
