The musical range of an alto flute in a novice's hands is somewhat limited. This range would be from G below concert C to the second G above the staff. A seasoned /pro player can often extend this musical range.

The musical range of the alto flute would be from G3 (which is the G directly below middle C)and G6 (the fourth ledger line above the treble clef staff. ) This does not include the altissimo register which would continue upward to Db8. These pitches are sounding pitches. The notes would be written a fourth higher for the player.
