Is Selmer a good brand of flute?

Selmer is a well-known company for student instruments, supplying many school districts. Beginners need a closed-hole flute, which Selmer makes. If you continue to play the flute, you will ultimately want a more expensive open-hole flute, but they are much harder for beginners. Selmer is a good place to start.

Selmer is a perfectly good brand for a starting instrument, but if you choose to keep going with it, you will find you outgrow it quickly. Some of the better brands are Yamaha and Pearl. But Selmer is a popular choice for starters, and should work initially.

The Selmer brand is rock solid. Selmer has a great selection of beginner flutes. They also have an array of intermediate and professional flutes.If you are looking for the perfect sound, try out an open hole intermediate Selmer flute.

Yes. There are better out there, Gemeinhardt, and Yamaha both make a full line of beginner to advanced. An older used selmer, with a good quality repad and workover by a competent repair tech can be a real player.

If you are serious, buying a Selmer is probably not a good choice. The best choices of brand for flute are Gemeinhardt and Yamaha. If you want a flute just to try to see how you like it, Selmer would work.

I hate to say this since I am from the US, but Japanese brands are better builtafford a top of the line flute the American made models such as Brannen, Haynes and Powell are wonderfull. Sadly though I those are the only US models that seem to be any good.

You won't go wrong with a Selmer flute. It is a beautifully crafted instrument which makes a magnificent sound. Selmer have been making flutes since the nineteenth century and are a highly regarded company.

Yes, Selmer is good, they invented the key system! They make a range of models, for all players. You are unlikely to go wrong with a Selmer or a Yamaha.

if you'll get an old selmer model, that would be good.. but the newer models are not that really good.. I just bought a used openhole signet selmer special ed. and it works great! it is quite old, I think late 70's to early 80's
