A biblical illustration of the famous "grass is greener on the other side of the fence" maxim, Adam and Eve had a perfect paradise to themselves, but were forbidden a very specific item (a trivial item, an apple). The fixation on this "forbidden fruit" led them to abandon to far more valuable thing -- their home.

The moral lesson of Adam and Eve is that one should resist the urge to succumb to temptation or else suffer the consequences the story gives no valid reason why they should not eat the apple , just that they should not.
