Well obisouly there are fireworks, lots of confetii and champagne for guests. Party poppers that shoot out paper confetii are also a good idea. I think a nighttime ceremony is a good idea with fireworks at the end.
Partying all night and tying the knot right at midnight making us the first couple on 1-1-11. 1 the beginning, the new beginning of me and Joe lasting forever.
Definitely consider using sparkly colors such as silver and gold which sort of mimic fireworks. Also have something major happen at midnight such as your departure, cutting the cake, etc.
theme would be 'count down to new beginning' celebration with some party hats and fireworks. it would be romantic if you kiss each other when it's exact new years day.
You could get married exactly at midnight. And have the countdown just before you kiss the bride. Make sure there is lots of booze. This is new years afterall..
