What is the medicine lamictal used for?

I found a bottle of lamictal in my husbands bag and am concerned that he is taking it.

Lamictal is usually an anticonvulsant used to treat some forms of epilepsy. It may also be used, however, to treat bipolar disorder. For the treatment of seizures it might be used in conjunction with other anticonvulsants. Lamictal is also sometimes effective for depression.
