A presbyterian is just one of many denominations in the Christian religion that is part of the protestants (non-catholic christians) like the baptist, pentecoastal, methodist, lutherans, unitarians, anglicans... etc The Presbyterian church is governed by elders (the minister is also an elder). A prebus is an elder. So it is not a doctrine but a practice of church governance.

A Christian church and a Presbyterian church a one in the same. Presbyterianism is a denomination in the Protestant Christian faith. So when a person says they are going to a Presbyterian church they are still going to a Christian church.
