Slam poetry is a competition of poets reading or reciting their original work, judged on numeric scale by pre-selected (by M.C.)audience members. Black Ice does not appear to have the credentials to be "the best" The National Poetry Slam competition lists 4 other winners from 1994-2011. This is biggest competition.

Slam poetry is poetry recited at a poetry slam, a competitive poetry recital judged in real time by audience participation. Black Ice is a poet who competes on the similar but distinct venue "The Def Poetry Jam."
