Question by  Wolverine (42)

What is the definition of "crime"?

Does it have to be breaking a law?

Answer by  nuttree (1596)

Crimes are defined by the law, so anyone who commits a crime is, by definition, breaking the law. Not all violations of the law, however, are crimes. Most traffic violations and some minor offenses, for example, are handled by civil, not criminal, proceedings.

Breaking the law in any way or doing something that is morally or legally against our standard of living in this country. Anything that may be deemed illegal or immoral.
