What is the cost to convert a 100 amp to a 200 amp service for your home?

I have noticed that my amp coverage at my home is not strong enough. I need to way the cost of upgrading, can you provide me with an average cost of conversion?

The price of this conversion varies according to where you are located, of course. For safety's sake, I definitely advise having a licensed electrician do this for you. It will probably cost anywhere from 200.00 to 500.00 dollars, depending upon the age, condition of existing wiring and the size of your house.

Being a licensed electrician in NJ and Maine for 40 years I find this answer rediculous with the exception of the advice to use a licensed contractor. Are vwe talking about service upgrade or rewiring the house. Both are seperate issues.  add a comment

It will not be cheap. To have a licensed electrician do this, it will probably cost around $1500 and take a few days.

Any service upgrade should take no more than six hours including disconnect and reconnect by local utilities  add a comment

Increasing the amount of power to a private residence takes time and money. You could find yourself three days out and with $1200.00 less in the bank.

The price is close but three days out is two days too long  add a comment

If you live in NJ NY area an upgrade from 100 to 200 Amps will run from $2400 to $ 3700 but take only one day to complete.
