Mushrooms tend to grow in places that are darker due to trees that are shading your lawn. Another contributing factor to their growth is moisture. Both of these can be remedied. If you don't have a lot of shady trees check the drainage of your property. If this doesn't help there are several treatments you can get for your lawn.

Mushrooms in the lawn are a product of fungi in the soil, and is actually the fruit of the fungus. The fungus feeds off of decaying matter such as animal droppings, old mulch, or rotting tree stumps.

Usually they are found in lawns that have very warm soil and it is kind of marshy. If you can get the yard to dry up they should go away the best way to get rid of them is go to your green house and ask them.

Their growth can be promoted by over watering or excess refuse in the yard. Keep all pet droppings, decaying leaves, and similar items to a minimum. Pick the mushrooms before they mature - don't mow over them. A final resort can be a yard fungicide.

Some fertilizers actually may contain spores that may be accidentally blown into the bags during packaging. Once exposed to moisture the spores will develop into a particular kind of small mushroom.

Mushrooms are a fungus that feed off of decaying matter in your lawn. The matter could be old mulch, animal waste or rotting tree stumps, dead branches or leaves. It can also be caused by a yard that is too heavily fertilized.

More often then not mushrooms tend to grow where there used to be trees. Rotting tree stumps, even ones not visible due to being under the soil, will cause mushroom growth.

When the tempeture is right with a little bit of moisture, mushrooms will grow. Your yard is more than likely holding water and the temps are right.
