Keep grass cut and watered and the yard weeded. If you have pets use Frontline or other that kills ticks. Take off shoes and clothing when entering house. Check body.

Ticks can be treated best by spraying suspected areas with a carbamate such as Sevin. Any pets should also be treated.

There is numerous over the counter tick sprays and repellents on the market. Keeping your yard kept up will help not attract them since ticks like brushy high grass.

The most effective predator for ticks would be to have hens to eat them, the next would be to sprinkle your yard with diatomaceous earth and slice and dice them to death with microscopic sea shell fragments. Ticks are tough, but they can bleed to death if you have punture tools at their scale.
