The best way is to call an exterminator out to do the job. One way is to put a couple of "outdoor" cats in the back yard for a few days. They love to hunt spiders and have an immunity to their bites. It might be worth a try?

Make sure you remove any container they could live in, like flower pots or even plastic toys. Clean any trash or food debris that may be around and I even wash the entire area with bleach (we have black widows). Teach your kids to never touch them and to always tell you when they see any spider.

Other than not aggravating them as most creatures will only attack when provoke, simply close your home off. Patch holes and don't invite them closer with flowers or ivy growth.

You can get rid of them by killing them. It it very easy. All you have to do is lift your foot and put your foot down on the spider.
