Try spraying them with a mixture of dish soap and water, you need to spray it fast and saturate it. Using the dish soap bottle will work, or if the hive is big, split up the solution into 2 or more bottles, or use any preferred spraying method. Let this sit and allow time for the nest to die.

The easiest way is to saturate the nest with Raid or similar wasp spray. Stand well back and make sure the entire nest is soaked. It's best to do this at dusk, when the wasps will be settling down to sleep. After a day or two, if there's no further activity, dispose of the nest in the trash.

The safest way to get rid of hornets is to call a pest control company that will send trained professionals. Smoking out the wasps is a dangerous do-it-yourself solution.

The best thing to do is call an exterminator and have them take care of it because they have the equipment to do it safely. You can always try a bug zapper but you must be very careful.
