Sound cards come in various and numerous varieties. I would recommend an esternal soundcard that can be hooked up through USB or Firewire. These soundcards vary extremely in price, from about 50 dollars to roughly 10,000 for 2 channels of recording. I can personally recommend the Apogee Duet, a 2 channel recording device with superb quality.
