The infection rate of this type of burn is not high. While it could become infected, the chances are low if the burn is well tended. A first degree burn only involves the first layer of skin. If the burn covers a large area, it may be more difficult to care for and the risk of infection may be higher.

As long as you keep the area clean with soap and water and apply some antibiotic cream, I would say very low.
