I had 2nd & 3rd degree burns from an IPL treatment 2-1/2 years ago. I still have pronounced burn marks on my face. Will they go away?

Although most second degree burns generally do heal with care over time, third degree burns require more attention. Depending on the severity, 3rd degree burns commonly leave scars that do not fade away with. There are surgical procedures that might eraticate these scars depending on the severity of the burn.

Your burns have healed, but the scars remaining from your treatment have gone away. You should consult a dermatologist for suggestions on improving the appearance of the remaining marks.

Whether or not they will ever go away depends on your body and its healing process, but some people's scars actually diminish over a course of time. I received similar burns in 1993 and most of the scarring is gone.
