I received severe second degree burns once and they healed perfectly. In a week, the area was red and drawn with a huge blister. The doctor said it was healing perfectly. Whatever you do, DO NOT OPEN any blisters. This is the time for infection to set in and that can do it. Keep area clean and dry.

It will be red but it should be fading already after a week. You might see some scabbing after a few days. You will need to apply neosporin or a similar cream. This will help it heal and prevent scarring. You should avoid putting ice or cold water on the burn though.

A second degree burn is red and will peel. It should not have any blisters. The redness should be most of the way gone after 7 days and you might be peeling or left with very dry skin.

The skin will dry up and crack over the burn. It will feel tough and start to peel off like a blister. Keep the new skin covered to help prevent infection.
