They are mostly the same, they believe once you are truely saved you are always saved. and they believe in full adult baptism refered to as being born again.

You must be baptized as an adult (with a full understanding of your surrender to Christ) with full immersion in water. r

The American Baptist follow the believes of John The Baptist in that they believe you have to make a conscious decision to follow Christ into baptism as John the Baptist did. In addition when you give your life to Christ you turn your life over to live a life as Christ would.
