What is the difference between Southern Baptist and American Baptist?

Southern Baptist belong to Southern Baptist Convention. Southern Baptist take a literal view of the Bible. They are more conservative. American Baptist are more liberal. American Baptist has larger African-American congregation. Southern Baptist belong to the Southern Baptist Convention-a large, influential group in America. Southern Baptist Convention does not rule individual churches.

There are a few tenants that remain different between the two, and the American Baptists are also more vocal during worship; sadly, this difference often indicates a racial divide as well.
