What stand do American Baptists take on abortions?

I want to advise an American Baptist friend about abortion.

Answer by  Kriket (1029)

In general American Baptists' support a womans right to choose. They are by no means "Pro-abortion" Advise your friend to pray about her decision, to conciser adoption and that you will support her no matter her decision. Unplanned pregnancies are stressful and tumultuous times. No matter her decision she needs a friend.

American Baptist churches have congregational polity, which means that each congregation decides for itself what stands, if any, to take on social issues. Unfortunately for the Internet, the only way to see what stand your friend's church takes is to check with their congregation. -Ordained American Baptist
