What is feline cuterebra?

I have never heard of this but my neighbor says her cat has it.

Cuterebra is a type of large fly whose larvae can burrow under the skin of rodents, squirrels, cats, dogs and other small animals. Cats often become infested after exploring rodent nests or burrows.

Feline Cuterebra is an infection caused by a fly larva. It is also refered to as a Warbles. Cuterebra is the larva stage of a botfly. The larva migrates under the skin to perfered living areas where they develop into the warble. In order to cure the infection you must remove the warble and then treat with topical antibiotics.

It's a parasite that lies underneath the skin and is caused by small rodents that are in the same location as the dog, cat or rabbit.

It is a fly larva that infests rodents, cats, dogs, etc. The adult female fly tends to lay their eggs near rodent nests or rabbit dens. When the animal is infect they have lumps under their skin around the head and neck.
