The two most common symptoms of feline pancreatitis are loss of appetite and lethargy. Less common symptoms of this disease are fever and vomiting, but not all cats will display these symptoms. The only sure way to determine if your cat has this disease is to have a veterinarian diagnosis it after doing blood work.

If you cat has lost his or her appetite and is sleepy, tired or listless, feline pancreatitis is a possibility. Other signs include vomiting and nausea. This condition cannot be confirmed at home without blood tests and a urinalysis. High amylase and or lipase enzymes will likely be elevated. Confirm with radiograph.

Symptoms of this are often hidden in cats, but you will see lethargy, dehydration, loss of appetite and weight loss. Less than %50 of cats show vomiting and abdominal pain. Look for jaundice, arrhythmia or increased heart rate, and breathing issues. Worst case, hemorrhaging and sepsis. Good luck.

Because production and activity of enzymes required for digestion are often impacted by pancreatitis, you should look for decreased appetite or changes in eating behavior, in addition to inconsistent elimination of food. A delcine in general well being should also be observable.

Talk to your vet about possible symptoms and your cat's risk of getting it. This is the safest way to know if you'll recognize it.
