What is causing the buildup of water on my air conditioner vent?

The water that is being built up on your vents is most likely condensation from the cold air of the vent mixing witht the warm air in the house. This is a common problem in places of high humidity. Another possibility is that the box above the vent is NOT insulated causing the condensation from the box to leak down.

The evaporator coil drain pan may be plugged up and not allowing the water to drain properly, therefore allowing the water to enter into the ductwork. Clearing the drain line will repair the problem.

Water condensation is a by-product of the cooling cycle. A drain trap can be put in to move the water out of the duct system and into a drain or some other location.

The water is being caused by condensation. Water is less soluble in cool air, than in warm air. Thus when warm air with moisture cools by contact with the cool vent the water condenses on the cool vent.

Water on your air conditioner vent is from condensation. Insulation needs to be installed around the boot and piping of the vent.
