A heat conductor is a material that allows heat energy to be easily transferred through it. In other words, when it is placed in contact with a heat source, it will warm up quickly and transfer heat energy away. An example of a heat conductor is copper. A counter example is the heat insulator such as air.

To conduct is to lead or carry something from one place to another. A heat conductor is capable of carrying or leading heat from one place to another. This is also called heat transmittance since the conductor can leading or can transmitt heat from one place to another. Cooper is a heat conductor.
