What is the best way to go about a water heater drain valve removal?

I am attempting to work on my water heater alone and have no idea where to begin.

first off, cut the power to the heater, hook a hose to the drain valve, open valve. Push the pressure release on top of heater up to allow draining. to change valve ,use a pipe wrench or adjustable wrench and carefully turn valve to the left.

Well the best way to uninstall the valve is to make sure the heater is turned off. Then look for screws and remove the valve.

Shut if the electricity and gas going to it and then drain it. The valve should simply screw out. Then screw the new one in and reverse the process.
