Distressed painting is a method used on pictures and furniture to make it look like an antique. Having distressed furniture can make your home feel warm and inviting. The color you choose can be any color. The color on the top is the most dominant and the color on the bottom layer will show through the cracks.

A distressed painting can mean one of two things: first, it is damaged through accidental causes and this is a fancy way of warning the buyer. Second, it is deliberately damaged to make it look older than it is. Distressing techniques include baking a painting, rubbing dirt into it, etc.
