What dog skin problems could cause excessive licking and chattering?

My dog licks and gnashes her teeth against her skin when she has a lot of fleas. Dry skin can also make your dog lick her skin too much. Some dogs seem to do this because they seem to have a nervous problem. If she continues, have the vet check her out.

Some dogs have alergies to different things.The problem is finding what he is allergic to. Start with common things.Have you washed bedding lately with somethng different?Do you use carpet deodorizer.Even fleas can cause allergies.Pocess of elimination is the key.However see the vet if you suspect something more serious.

it could be numerous things, starting with a food alergy a skin allergy (to say grass) fleas. It could even be mange. Try getting flea treatment upto date, if this doesn't work try changing his diet. If this still doesn't work i'd see a vet. In the mean time, try soothing conditioners to help with the itch.

Skin allergies can cause severe licking and chewing. Dogs with sensitivity to fleas and even environmental allergens, get irritated, some enough to chew and scratch until the hair is missing and they are bleeding. Benadryl can be given ask your vet for the dose for your dog.

Licking and teeth chattering are just a part of the normal grooming procedures. Cold weather could be causing dry skin which would definitely trigger itchiness and irritation. However, I would definitely take the dog to the vet if grooming is excessively done. There are so many rashes and skin conditions that could be causing it.

I'm not sure what would cause chattering, but licking could be caused by mites, or maybe a rash. It could also be poison ivy.

Consult your vet asap. It could be as simple as fleas, ticks, or dry skin, or it could be more serious, like eczema, or even mange. There are even a few food allergies that can cause skin irritation. Whatever it is, it won't go away on it's own.
