P.S. stands for "post scriptum", which is the ancient latin for "written later"; it is used to introduce a comment or a phrase added after the end of the text.

P.S. means "post script." It's intended for something you write after the main body of the letter (hence "post" which means "after", like in "post season playoffs"). Sometimes these are things you forgot to write about and remembered only after signing the letter, and sometimes they are things that don't really belong in the main body of the letter.

P.S. stands for post script, and is used to add additional information after you have signed the letter. It is a bit like an afterthought that did not fit into the body of the letter.

P.S. stands for "post script." When letters were the standard way to communicate, handwriting was referred to as script. When you needed to add a thought after you had finished the letter, you could add a post script to the end. Gradually, the abbreviation became more recognized than its meaning.
