Do NOT block out the thought. Repression is only going to make it worse. If the feeling is overwhelming, you need to talk to somebody professionally - it makes a huge difference. Set small goals and achieve them. Remember that everybody has moments of struggle. Everybody.

Best thing to try is to block out the thought. Try to find 'proof' that you are not a failure and convince yourself you aren't

Being around encouraging people who have common goals and isssues is very helpful when feeling like a failure. Honesty in a one on one or a group setting will encourage each person and help with their perspective on life. Oftentimes people blow their faults out of proportion.
