The blue area directly in front of a hockey goal is called "The Crease." Opposing players are not allowed to touch the puck once it has entered the crease area. Doing so results in the goal being waved off. The dimensions of the crease were altered about 10 years ago to be smaller on the sides of the goal.

I played hockey for 15 years, and to me that little spot was always called the G spot. I called it that because my stick was always going in there.
