Whether or not you are a right or left handed shot, your height and weight (you can cut the stick down to your level, but if it's too short, there is nothing you can do).
You need to look and flex, weight and blade curve. Go to a real hockey store (not a general sports store) and tell them you are a beginner and they can help you with flex and weight. It is best to start with a wooden stick.
