I believe the width of the goalposts is larger for high school than the NFL or College. My source for high school states that the goal post width is 23 feet 4 inches wide. My source for the NFL states that the goal post width is 18 feet 6 inches.

According to the National Football League rules, the goal posts must be 18 feet and 6 inches wide, and the crossbar must be 10 feet above the ground.

The foot ball goal posts can have a width ranging from 18 feet 6 inches to 23 feet 4 inches. if your son is high school student, you can go for the 23'4" width. once your son is practised with the high school level, you can slowly move on to a professional width of 18'6".

High school goal posts are 10 feet high and 23 feet and 4 inches wide but college posts are 10 feet high and 18 feet 6 inches wide. In field goals it is 10feet off the ground and between upright posts that are 18 feet 6 inches apart to count.

Professional Football has goalposts 18' 6" wide. College has been widened to 23'4". High School is 23'4". it is different because of their levels some players are not good enough so they need more room to hit that field goal and less chance of them missing the field goal then
