What do I need to know about growing dogwood seeds?

The bright red berries that appear after flowering contain the seeds. Remove the pulp of the berry and the seed reminas. Put the seeds in a plastic bag with moist peat moss and refrigerate. The seeds with germinate, and can be planted. Protect the seeds until they take root.

Dogwood seeds are produced from Dogwood trees flowers. Fully matured seed will fall from the petals of the flowers, and dont try to pluck it while its red in colour. After collecting the seed soak it in water, remove the pulp and dry it by draining the water.

Dogwood tree seeds are contained within the red berries on the tree. The seeds need to germinate in the Spring so store the seeds in soil in the fridge.

Place seeds in a pot, cover with one inch soil, and keep moist. Place outside or place pot in plastic bag in refrigerator for 90 days. Pot separately when obtain first set of true leaves. When danger of frost is past, set pots in protected area outside. Later plant seedlings directly in soil in semi-shade. Seeds usually produce white dogwoods.

The seeds from dogwood trees come from the red berries. By removing the berry's pulp and mixing it with moss and refrigerating will help the seeds germinate so they can be planted.
